Urgent information about some ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ accounts
Technicians are investigating an issue in the ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ identity system -- but there is a workaround!
Urgent information about some ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ accounts
An issue in our identity system previously prevented the generation of default passwords for several ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ account types. Those types include:
- undergraduate students (UND)
- graduate students (GRA)
- accepted students (ACC)
- life-long learning students (LLL)
- enrollment eligible student (EES)
- international (INT)
- courtesy (COU) accounts
This issue is causing new account holders to need a password reset before they can access ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ systems (including email or my¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ, which is why we are reaching out to you all, because reaching out to these populations directly is difficult). Any ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ account of the kinds listed above created since March 28, 2024, that has not logged in and changed their password to a new value, is subject to this problem.
When attempting to access a ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ resource, an impacted user will receive the message: “Error: Authentication attempt has failed, likely due to invalid credentials. Please verify and try again.”
In order to resolve, the person with the impacted account should navigate to and log in with their UniqueID and default password; the system will prompt the user to set a new password. This password will then be synced across all ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ systems.
They may also call the IT Help support line at 513-529-7900 to speak with an advisor who will walk them through the process.
Thank you for your attention and support. We will provide updates as the issue is addressed by our Identity and Access Management team.
