Whelpton Memorial Lecture Series brings a nationally known scholar to ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ each fall. This lecture, established in 1986, honors the memory of Pascal Whelpton who served from 1953-1963 as one of the early directors of what is now Scripps Gerontology Center. WhelptonÂ’s contributions to the field of demography and the research center left a legacy.ect

The Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education is proud to present ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ senior Reeti Pal with the 2017 Ken and Joan Frankel Outstanding Premedical Student Award and ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ Sociology professor Dr. Jennifer Bulanda with the Mallory-Wilson Center Faculty/Staff Recognition Award. Reeti will be honored at a ceremony on May 12, while Dr. Bulanda received her award from ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ's seniors at the Graduating Prehealth Student Reception on April 20th

You're invited to a brown bag lecture by Dr. Karen Kent on Friday, March 3 at Noon in Room 002 Upham Hall. Scripps will offer one (1) Social Work CEU for this educational event. The award recognizes individuals in Ohio's aging network whose research has improved services, advanced knowledge, or supported the expansion of research in the field of gerontology in Ohio or nationally.

Dr. Irma T. EloDr. Irma T. Elo, Professor of Sociology and Director of thePopulation Aging Research Center at the University of Pennsylvania, will present the 2016 P.K. Whelpton Memorial Lecture. The talk will take place at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, in 180 Marcum Center. The lecture, "Longevity and Immigration," is sponsored by ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒÂ’s Scripps Gerontology Center. The event is free and open to the public.
