CAS Hughes Scholars

CAS Hughes Scholars are available to ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ students and are administered by the Departments of Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Microbiology, each of which establishes its award criteria. Hughes Scholars are appointed after Undergraduate Summer Scholarships are awarded to avoid redundancy.

Hughes Scholars is a 10-week summer research program which offers active, engaged educational experiences for undergraduate researchers. Students are expected to perform research during the assigned 10-week period that they will then present at an interal or external poster presentation or conference. During this 10-week period, students are expected to work solely on this project and not hold any other employment or enroll in any classes. Project budgets will be distributed as follows:

*This may be taxable income in the form of a 1099-MISC. The program administrators will need a signed W9 to process the stipend payment.
