What is Advanced Writing?

Advanced Writing is one of theIn Advanced Writing courses (or course sequences), students must critically read scholarly or professional texts, learn about conventions for academic and professional writing, and practice writing for various rhetorical situations. The focus of Advanced Writing courses is on writing, and students will be given direct instruction in writing, receive feedback on their writing, and be given opportunities to revise their written work.

How Can ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ Students Satisfy the Advanced Writing Requirement? 

1. They may take one course that is open to all ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ students or a course that is open only to students in their major/program.

OR

2.  They may take a sequence of courses that a department has carefully designed to help students engage in writing instruction and practice across time.

In either case, courses designated as fulfilling the Advanced Writing are designated in . 

Students may transfer in credit as part of OT36 and, in rare cases, may petition for credit.
