To be selected for this award, a faculty member must demonstrate teaching excellence, be a contributor to the life and mission of ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒ, and be a distinguished scholar of national and international stature with demonstrated recognition and with a projected high-level of scholarly productivity in the future.

The AgeWell program trains and employs able older adults to provide companionship to chronically ill older adults in the community. The program aims to improve health and wellbeing outcomes through reducing isolation and identifying potential health or social problems and making referrals to the appropriate services. It also hopes to decrease medical costs through reducing hospitalizations, hospital readmissions, and emergency room visits. The AgeWell program has been successfully piloted in Cape Town, South Africa where participants had significant improvements in well-being scores throughout the time of the pilot.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, at 5:00 PM in 180 Marcum Center. The event is free and open to the public.

A new n4a report finds that Title VI Native American aging programs enable tribal elders to live with independence and dignity and their homes and communities, but face unique challenges in providing services. The new report, National Title VI Program Survey: Serving Tribal Elders Across the United States, was released today at the National Title VI Training and Technical Assistance Conference.

Adult guardianship, managed by OhioÂ’s Probate Courts, is a necessary strategy to promote a high quality of life while preventing the exploitation of individuals who are not capable of making decisions for themselves. Despite the importance of these decisions, the strategies used by counties to provide oversight of adult guardianship vary across the state and concerns have been raised in some instances about the quality of guardianship practice. Inspired by recent updates to improve guardianship practice (Rule 66), researchers at ¾Ã¾ÃË®ÃÛÌÒÂ’s Scripps Gerontology Center created and administered a survey to collect data on this important topic.
